Estate sale treasures

I recently visited an estate sale here in Flagstaff and found a few pieces of very inexpensive costume jewelry. Thought I would share. I even found a lovely silverplate bowl to use for photos and a vintage weaving loom spindle.

I wore the green plastic bead necklace to work and it is lovely. The pearls have a gorgeous rhinestone doodad and the green and plastic clip on earrings will be used in an assemblage of some sort.

Art Unraveled 2012 - fabric bundles for $10/each

We're getting ready for Art Unraveled 2012. Suzanne and I work as a great team organizing the best recycled mixed media art supplies.

We keep our prices low so our customers will come keep coming back. I created 16 bundles of fabrics & laces today. I do small production lines when I put the bundles together so it isn't so hard on my back. Enjoy.

Rescued bride - doll from Goodwill

In my quest to save sweet dolls from extinction (or the trash), I scout thrift stores for special treasures. I rescued Helen from our local Goodwill last Sunday for $1. Isn't she sweet? And her dress design is simplicity itself. The frame around her is one of the Rhonna Farrer frames.

Fabric collage #1 with crazy quilt heart

While I was sick this past weekend, I didn't realize the doctor wanted me to REST, meaning lying down. I rested by doing some handcrafts and sewing. Oh, well, at least I got some artwork done. This is a fabric collage I made with one of my crazy quilt hearts as the showpiece. Gotta love fabric collage. Learned so much from the wonderful KC Willis of Lipstick Ranch, Longmont, CO.

This is one of my first art journaling fabric collages. I just can't seem to stay with my blank journals that I purchased specifically for art journaling. Maybe I'll print this photo out and paste it into one of my larger art journals and call it good.

Sister Mary Grace (vintage nun doll)

Sister Mary Grace was recently rescued during a silent auction for our local Hospice thrift store. Hodge Podge. She's unique and lovely. Well worth the donation.

Adobe PhotoShop filters

I took this photo a few years ago in Sedona, AZ, and played with it in PhotoShop on Sunday. What a difference a filter makes.

Diffused filter

I think I'll use this filter more often. I had seen some diffused images by DJ Pettitt on Facebook and thought I'd see if I could duplicate her process. Looking good.

PhotoShop Brushes

I've recently purchased some brushes to use in PhotoShop. Kinda cool. And I even got free tutorials on YouTube. Geez, I almost don't need any of my PhotoShop books anymore which is good because I can't find them. Here is my first experiment using one of my own images.

I learned about CTRL T to get the Transform box around the brush which I then turned around for the opposite corner. Cool, huh? The corner brushes were purchased from Two Peas in a Bucket by Rhonna Farrer.

This image holds 2 different brushes. The corners are one brush that I transformed for the opposite side and the same brush from Rhonna Farrer. The smoke in the center was a free brush I downloaded from the Internet. Here's a link for the YouTube Video with great instructions on how to use the smoke brush.

All this while recovering from strep throat. Ugh! I even created 3 fabric collages which are still drying. Will post photos next time.
